Remote Online Notary vs. In-Person: Which Do You Need?
One of the most common questions I hear is: “Do I really need to meet a notary in person, or can I do it all online?” The truth is, both in-person notarization and remote online notarization (RON) are valid, but they work best in different situations. Here’s a quick guide to help you decide.
In-Person Notarization
Good for: large document signings, when a wet ink signature is required, or when the receiving party doesn’t yet accept electronic notarizations.
Turnaround: immediate, but you’ll need to meet at a physical location.Remote Online Notarization (RON)
Good for: most everyday needs like affidavits, powers of attorney, school documents, and business forms.
How it works: we meet securely online through BlueNotary, you show your ID, and sign electronically. The notarization is digitally stamped and valid under Texas law (and recognized in many other states).Which should you choose?
If convenience, speed, and accessibility matter → go RON.
If the receiving institution is old-school and requires original signatures → stick to in-person.
